SharpLink Stakes $170 Million in ETH on Linea

SharpLink stakes ETH on Linea

Catenaa, Friday, January 16, 2026- Ethereum treasury firm SharpLink Gaming has deployed and staked $170 million worth of ether on Linea, the Layer 2 blockchain developed by Consensys, marking a new phase in its institutional ETH yield strategy.

The deployment uses an enhanced yield structure combining native Ethereum staking rewards with restaking incentives from EigenCloud, as well as rewards from Linea and Ether.fi, all under Anchorage custody.

SharpLink described the setup as a highly productive approach to holding ETH with institutional-grade infrastructure.

CEO Joseph Chalom called 2026 the start of Ethereum’s “productive era,” highlighting staking as central to the firm’s strategic priorities.

The $170 million staked on Linea is part of a broader plan to deploy $200 million across Linea and affiliated restaking partners, targeting risk-adjusted, ETH-denominated returns.

SharpLink currently holds 864,840 ETH, worth about $2.7 billion, making it the second-largest corporate ETH treasury. Last week, the company reported 438 ETH in staking rewards, bringing cumulative returns to over 10,657 ETH, roughly $33.1 million. Its shares rose 1.38% to $10.28 on Nasdaq Thursday, gaining 12.6% over the past five days.

Meanwhile, Bitmine, the largest corporate ETH treasury, staked approximately 186,304 ETH ($577.5 million) on Thursday, increasing its total staked ETH to 1.03 million, about a quarter of its 4.1 million ETH holdings.

The moves underscore growing institutional participation in Ethereum staking, as treasury firms leverage Layer 2 networks and restaking mechanisms to optimize yield on large ETH holdings.
