Mantle Deploys ERC-8004 for DeFAI

Mantle ERC-8004 AI finance upgrade

Catenaa, Saturday, February 21, 2026-High-performance liquidity and distribution layer for real-world assets Mantle deployed the ERC-8004 standard on its mainnet, creating a trust and identity framework for autonomous AI agents in decentralized finance.

ERC-8004 introduces three on-chain registries: an Identity Registry for unique, verifiable agent identities; a Reputation Registry that carries performance history across platforms; and a Validation Registry providing cryptographic proof of work for outputs.

The standard addresses the visibility gap that previously limited AI agents from participating in high-stakes financial markets by enabling discoverability, reputation tracking, and autonomous verification.

On Mantle, AI agents can now operate as sovereign economic participants, executing financial strategies, managing tokenized assets, and bridging liquidity between traditional finance and on-chain protocols.

Agents can autonomously discover counterparts, validate credentials, and transact without being confined to a single ecosystem.

This interoperability extends to Mantle’s existing protocols, including Model Context Protocol (MCP), Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication, and the x402 payment standard.

The deployment positions Mantle as a pioneer in Decentralized AI Finance (“DeFAI”), connecting institutional-grade assets, real-world finance, and on-chain liquidity.

With a treasury exceeding $4 billion and a robust distribution layer, Mantle enables AI agents to manage compliance, settlement, and liquidity at scale.

Ecosystem projects such as mETH, fBTC, and MI4 complement the platform, alongside partnerships with protocols including Ethena USDe, Ondo USDY, and OP-Succinct.
