GOAT Network Launches BitVM2 Testnet

GOAT Network BitVM2 testnet launch

Catenaa, Thursday, February 05, 2026- GOAT Network has launched a public testnet for its BitVM2 based zkRollup, aiming to allow Bitcoin holders to use BTC for financial activity without relying on custodians or committee controlled withdrawals.

The company said the GOAT BitVM2 Testnet, also known as Testnet V3, is designed to keep user exits and dispute resolution enforceable under Bitcoin’s base layer rules.

The launch targets a long standing constraint in the Bitcoin ecosystem, where most activity beyond holding BTC depends on trusted intermediaries.

GOAT Network said its system allows execution to occur off chain while using zero knowledge proofs for validity and Bitcoin itself as the final enforcement layer.

Withdrawals are bound to Bitcoin anchored transaction history, preventing exits based on altered or fabricated records, according to the company.

Bitcoin’s limited scripting environment has historically made native rollups difficult to implement.

GOAT Network said its approach builds on BitVM2 techniques using existing Bitcoin primitives such as time locks and pre transactions to enable disputes to be resolved directly on Bitcoin.

The testnet introduces a public environment for the project’s full rollup stack, including a decentralized sequencer linked to Bitcoin, a Type 1 zkEVM execution layer, and a proprietary zkVM proving engine.

The focus of the current release is operational testing of dispute handling and withdrawal mechanics.

GOAT Network said the testnet is open for public participation and developer testing.

The project is part of a broader effort to expand BTC denominated financial activity while preserving direct user control under Bitcoin consensus rules.
