Catenaa, Sunday, January 04, 2026-Telefónica Tech has sold its Latin American operations to Hiberus while maintaining a strategic alliance to serve multinational clients in the region, the company said.
The deal is part of Telefónica Tech’s effort to simplify its organization and concentrate on core markets including Spain, the UK, Germany, and Brazil.
Under the agreement, the Digital Operations Center in Colombia will remain part of Telefónica Tech.
Both firms said they will continue collaborating to provide consistent service standards for multinational customers.
The move also strengthens Hiberus’ presence in Latin America and supports its expansion into North America, bolstering cloud and cybersecurity capabilities.
María Jesús Almazor, Telefónica Tech COO for Spain and the Americas, described the transaction as a step in the company’s “Transform & Grow Strategic Plan,” enabling closer customer relationships while maintaining service quality.
Hiberus CEO Sergio López said the acquisition lays the foundation for a long-term strategic alliance with Telefónica and advances the company’s Azul Infinito strategic plan.
The sale follows a period of workforce reductions and corporate restructuring within Telefónica.
Sources said the company has planned staff cuts affecting multiple units, building on previous reductions including more than 3,400 positions in Spain in January 2024.
The agreement reflects Telefónica Tech’s focus on streamlining operations in priority markets while providing Hiberus with a platform to expand its regional and international service offerings.
